| YAMATOU Textile Factory is located in Iwataki-cho,
which is close to Amanohashidate, which is one of the three-most renowned views
of Japan, looks on The Sea of Japan in Kyoto prefecture. Iwataki-cho, where we can hear the sounds of weaving from the early morning, has made great use of it's severe cold winters and the high humidity in order to produce Tango silk crepe and has prospered for more than 200 years. Tango silk crepe and FUROSHIKI are internationally considered to be outstanding examples of Japanese traditional beauty. In spite of the recent recession, the technology of Tango silk crepe has improved and enthusiasm for textiles is going to be inherited by the next generation. We would like to introduce to you Tango silk crepe and the people of Iwataki-cho. Although YAMATOH originally produced white cloth we became able to sell FUROSHIKI (pure silk and plain) on Internet by the united efforts of the dyeing department and the processing department. Expecting the feeling of people who use FUROSHIKI and predicting next 10 and 20 years, we hope wonderful network will expand. |
